Welcome back to another season of golf at Dalewood!

Hopefully all of you received Women's Section President Su Morrow's email inviting you to the Spring Meeting and Brunch on May 7, registration starts at 10:30. Don't forget to RSVP to sumorrow@cogeco.ca.

ORANGE TEES:

Since the orange "family" tees were put in several years ago, very few women have chosen to play them because they have taken a lot of the interest and challenge out of the course - most found them too boring to play. A committee was formed to redesign them to be more fun and still very playable.

We have set the orange blocks on the course where we would like them permanently changed to. We are requesting that ALL of you please give them try a few times in the next month. We need lots of women to try them out. If you like the new tees and could see yourself playing from there occasionally or regularly in the future, please let Craig (cpitt@dalewood.ca) know and copy Jeanne Beaith (jbeaith@sympatico.ca) as well. We need some support for this to go forward.

Obviously you can't put a score in for your handicap because they are not rated from the new locations, but please, please try them out.

Monday League

A message from Sandy Young - Games Captain:

"Happy New Year!

Looking forward to golf in 2022.

I assume some or all of you have seen the poster sent out by Craig regarding the NEW Monday women's league. The full 2-page poster is below.

I just wanted to send a note to confirm this does NOT replace our Tuesday women’s league.

The club is looking to grow the game and have added a Monday women’s fun/recreational league, hoping to attract new players.

Please feel free to pass this along to anyone you may know that might be interested.

If you, as a member, would like to participate, the cost will be the $50.00 prize fee.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions."

Jordan's Sock Drive

A note from Marlene Randall, grandmother of Jordan:

"I want to thank you Sandi so very much for the initiative taken on your part to generate more socks to help individuals.

My granddaughter Jordan has now completed  her 7th annual new sock drive. The total number of pairs of socks this year is 8,000.  Of that total 626 were collected and distributed in our area. Sandi and all her golf and/or hockey friends donated 120 pairs of the 626 total. Cornerstone took 51 pairs of women's socks and 26 pairs of a mix for tots, girls and boys.  77 pairs of men's socks went to Transition House and The Salvation Army took the remaining ones. All three locations expressed how thankful they were to receive these. The Salvation Army told me that this is one of the first items they run out of.

On behalf of my 12 year old granddaughter Jordan and myself  I wish to sincerely thank you for your generosity.  It is people like you that make a difference this crazy world."

We golfers contributed over 105 pairs to that 126 total - well done and thank you for your generosity!

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Wales Home, Lennoxville United Church, or a charity of your choosing.

A cart disaster sent from Janet Hull:

"One of our members drove his cart into the pond on our 1st hole of the Cove Course. Supposedly he was mad at his shot.

The real story was he got his foot stuck between the brake and accelerator peddle. He went right in with the cart. Thanks goodness it was a lovely 89 degrees and he dried off by the time he got to 10.  Ironically, one of the marshals said the guy is commodore of the Newport yacht club."

CHRISTMAS DINNER

DECEMBER 10, 5:30 PM

Our Christmas Dinner will look a little different this year. It will be a sit-down 3-course plated meal served in the small dining room. It will start with soup or salad, followed by turkey and ham, stuffing, potatoes and vegetables. Dessert will be a choice of Jen's sticky pudding or pie. The cost is $20.95 + tax and gratuity.

The date we have chosen is Friday, December 10. This year we have several working people and some afternoon conflicts, so we are going to try a dinner at 6 pm, with drinks at 5:30.

We are going to sign up with the Google Doc method that we have used for most events this year. Lynn Attley will be sending this out in the next few days, so look for an email from Lynn. The choice of soup or salad and dessert will be made when you are at dinner. Those with dietary requests should still sign up and then contact Jen personally by Dec 3 to discuss your choices.

If you would like to invite friends or former members, please feel free to do so - we have room for 40 (5 tables of 8). You can sign them up when you sign yourself. Everyone must be double vaxxed. Please sign up by noon on December 3, so I can give a number to Jen.

Any questions contact me: jbeaith@sympatico.ca.
