Rules and ball marks

Do you find that the print is too small and you don't have your reading glasses with you, or that you just don't have time before, during, or after your game to sit and concentrate on the rules?

 

You'll be happy to know they are posted on the blog under Pages (down the right side) and will be updated periodically. You do not get an email when the pages are updated, just when there is a new posting. So you need to check back occasionally. If you want any other rules explained please let me know.

Devil's Results and the food!!

The format of the Devil's Tournament encourages fun and that was definitely the order of the day; just maybe that is what led to so many great scores!   

The big winners of the day were Patty McDonald and Catherine Watson.

In second place were Lynda Rennick and Sally Okazawa.

 In third place were Tracey Perkin and Gail Richards.

In fourth place were Lynn Attley and Eleni Ponting.

And for those who missed the event these were the meal selections - scrumptious!

Beet salad with or without grilled chicken, flatbread pizza with grilled peaches and chicken, and the winner of the evening: salmon with mustard herb yogurt sauce.

5th Annual Devil's Tournament

The weather was wonderful for the Devil's Tournament - some said it was a little too hot - but it didn't rain on a Tuesday!  The meals were terrific, prepared by chef Jen.  The course was in great shape.  And the company couldn't have been better!  Here are some of the photos from the post round drinks on the balcony.  The winners and full results will be in a later posting.

 

 

 

By the way, several people had left before the bills had come out of the kitchen, so we decided to add 15% automatically to all the meals for the gratuity. The staff didn't want to interrupt the prizes, so that's why there was a delay in delivering the bills.

 

40th Anniversary

It was great to see so many members celebrating Dalewood's 40th Anniversary last Saturday with golf in the afternoon and a nice barbecue and corn roast out on the first tee.  It was really fun to see so many Juniors playing in the tournament and enjoying the dinner as well - of course, they had to be called off the putting green when it was time to eat.  Many thanks to Jamie, Dave, Jen and staff for putting on a wonderful day. 

The entertainment was terrific - "tall girl in the back shop" aka Caroline and Andy Earle, of course!

Sitting with the Thorpes, it was really nice to see the O'Neills - Art was our first Club President, and Ruth was secretary for the Women's Section for years. The big evergreen tree behind the first tee 

has special meaning now.

Our Greens Superintendent Tyler Ruest and his wife Wendy were there.

District Championship and Devil's Tournament

Our Peterborough District Championship will be held this year on August 25th at Cedarhurst Golf Club, near Beaverton (Lake Simcoe area).  The cost is $85, which includes golf, lunch, and gift card prizes.  The closing date is August 11. Information and forms are on the bulletin board.  Husbands and significant others may play in this tournament as well. You may leave your entry in the pro shop for George Moffat, who is the convenor.  Sandi and Claudia are going, so perhaps some car pooling could happen.

Our annual Devil's Tournament is taking place on Tuesday, Aug 26, starting with a 1 pm shotgun.  As usual, partners will be randomly drawn from 2 handicap flights and you will play 6 holes of better ball, 6 of scramble, and 6 of Chapman alternate shot.  The cost is $10 and prizes will be given to the top 4 teams.  Dinner selections will be made ahead of time.

Club Championship Weekend

Although the forecast was not good, we managed to get both days in under sunny skies. 

Everyone started out hopeful, a little nervous, and in good spirits!

 It appears that everyone finished in good spirits as well.  (Pun intended)

Saturday's play was followed by "Apps on the Balcony".  Looks like good food and great company:
