I hope you were watching the historic finish to the Canadian Open!! All of Canada congratulates Nick Taylor.

From our match convenor Sandi MacDonald:

Match Play info:

Putting: Ask the pro shop staff for the numbered flags for the putting contest and return them to the pro shop when you finish. The new flags don't have numbers on them.

Match Play Cards: Sandi is more than happy to make up your match play cards. Just let her know via text 289-251-0104 or email at sandi.macw@gmail.com. She will leave the card for you in the match play box in the locker room.

After the match, leave the signed card in that same box.

This and That

Cancelling a tee time: If you happen to be the first name listed for a tee time, especially on a Saturday or Tuesday, and you need to cancel, please phone the pro shop to do so. If you take your name out online through Chronogolf, you will cancel the whole group from that time.

Bunkers: Always enter and exit a bunker from the low side - do not climb down or up steep faces, even if it might be be faster and mean less raking. Climbing steep bunker faces causes damage to the face of the bunker and can cause the edge of the bunker to collapse. Leave rakes on the low side (and away from the entrance to the green), to encourage others to do the same thing. As you leave the bunker use your club to knock sand off the bottom of your shoes, especially from a green side bunker. You don't want to leave sandy footprints on the green.

By the way, more sand is going in our green side bunkers this week!!

Provisional balls: If you think your ball may be lost or has gone out of bounds, you should hit a provisional ball and announce it to your playing partners. It will save you the "walk of shame" back to the tee or from wherever you hit it, if you can't find your original ball. This does not apply to balls hit into a hazard or penalty area. (In fact, you may not hit a provisional if you are unsure if your ball is in a hazard.)

Here is a link to a short video about a provisional ball.

And if you are in match play, don't forget to get your matches arranged soon - time flies, as we all know!!

It's time to pick your partner. The Eleni Ponting Better Ball is on Tuesday, June 20th. The sign up sheet is posted on the bulletin board outside our locker room. We play our own ball and use the better net score on each hole.

If you don't have a partner, sign up as a single or get in touch with convenor Cathy Morin (cmorin003@sympatic.ca).

Just a reminder that you must have different partners for our 3 partner events - match play, better ball and alternate shot.
