Welcome to Dalewood GC

The goal of Dalewood Women's Section (DWS) is to promote a spirit of fellowship among women golfers and to encourage participation in all aspects of golf.

Our committee members are elected on an annual basis to take on the responsibility of the day-to-day business of the Section. The Constitution and By-laws, Policies and Procedures, and Games Rules and Regulations are in a book in the locker room and posted on the Blog.

New members may be assigned a 'buddy', if they wish, as a contact person to answer any question they may have.

A membership fee is collected in the spring to cover the costs of our annual awards and recognition expenses (plaques/trophies, prizes, achievement pins, ringer, birdie, par, and bogey boards, etc.) Events and competitions throughout the season will each have a registration fee to cover prizes for that event.

Opening and Closing Field Days, Match Play, the Eleni Ponting Better Ball, and the Bulger Two-Ball all are part of the DWS and you must be a member of the DWS to participate in these events. All Dalewood members may take part in the Club Championship, Devil's Tournament, Solheim Cup, Saturday Skins, and the Member-Guest. All of these activities are described under a different tab on the blog called "Join Us". Have a look there for more details. All pertinent dates are listed on the left side of the Blog.

Almost all of our activities use handicaps for fairness and equity. It is important to keep an up-to-date handicap in order to play in our events. Ask the manager or in the pro shop to assign you a Golf Canada Handicap account. All games must be entered - ask any member of the Golf Committee or your 'buddy' for assistance if needed. The handicap service comes with your membership at no extra cost.

We use a Google.docs application to sign up for Tuesday play. You may play mid-morning, early afternoon, or late afternoon. Our Tuesday convenor sets the draw on a weekly basis. If you have signed up, but haven't received a notification, check Chronogolf.ca for your time. (The same would apply for Saturday Skins.) Most other activities will have a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the lower hall.

Members may book a time 7 days in advance, or add your name to an existing time, on Chronogolf.ca. Check in the pro shop to get registered for that website.

If you are an Unlimited Member, a locker is included in your fee. See the club administrator to be assigned a locker. The practice range and club cleaning/storage are also included. If you purchased a 25-game pack, you are allowed 25 bags of balls on the range and club cleaning/storage. Electric battery storage is $90 extra for the season.

We use our Blog (https://dalewoodwsblog.blogspot.com) for most of our communication. If you wish to receive notifications when a new posting goes on, send an email to dalewoodws@gmail.com with 'Subscribe' in the subject line.

At an assigned tee throughout the season you will see a trailer with divot bottles on a rack. Please pick one up and for that hole fill any divot holes that you see on your way to the green. Any dead divots should be removed and replaced with dirt from the bottle. At the end of the hole, there will be a trailer to drop off the bottle. We can all help keep our fairways in good shape. As well, most of the Par 3's have a divot box - fill your own divot and any others you see on the tee. A good practice on the green is to make sure you repair your ball mark and at least one other. Use divot tool or tee to move the grass in from the back and sides of the mark and pat down with your putter. Do not pull the dirt up from the middle of the ball mark.

Dalewood has a dress code: tailored slacks/pants (no blue jeans), capris, shorts, skirts, and golf dresses may be worn. Sleeveless shirts with a collar and collarless shirts with sleeves are allowed.
