Minutes and the Goose

This is a reminder that our fall meeting will not be on Sept 22 due to a function in the Great Hall. Instead, it will be on our Closing Field Day, Sept 27, after golf and before dinner. Awards and prizes for the day will be after dinner. 


Here are the minutes from the spring meeting and they are posted on the blog under the tab "Minutes", for future reference.

DALEWOOD WOMEN’S SECTION
SPRING MEETING Minutes - May 3rd 2026


1. WELCOME


Sandi opened the meeting and welcomed everyone to the 2026 season.


Kevin, Karsen and Brad were in attendance. They provided an updated on the tee project. The contractor will be finished next week.  

There will be a Nine and Dine.

The Mixed Opening will be postponed until the new tees are ready. 

Dawn Cameron has joined the team in the Pro Shop. 

Golf Genius is the sign up portal for events. It you have any issues with the sign up process please see Karsen. 


INTRODUCTION OF THE 2026 DWS Golf Committee – SANDI

Sandi MacDonald, President, Handicap and Match PlayConvenor 

Sue Morrow, Past President

Bridget Smith, Vice President and Social Convenor

Cathy Morin, Secretary/Treasurer 

Anne Parks will assist Bridget with Social activities. Leanne Stevenson and Dianne Beatty will assist with Games activities. 

Sandi asked anyone interested in the games or handicap role to contact her. 

Sandi reviewed our hybrid assessment model. The assessment fee remains at $30 this year and includes Opening and Closing Field days, chip-ins and putting contest. New this year is the $5 fee for Achievement Board participation

Sandi thanked Sue Morrow Royal LePage Pro Alliance Realty who will be our league sponsor. 

Bridget introduced new member Christine Kwiatkowski. 


2. TREASURER’S REPORT - CATHY

Cathy reported we start the year with a $240 surplus. There was a question from the floor regarding this amount and plans. The surplus will be used to cover admin costs and payouts for events. 


3. BUSINESS ARISING FROM FALL MEETING 

The minutes were reviewed and accepted . Motion by Sandy Young and seconded by Jeanne Beaith.  Approved.


4. GOLF COMMITTEE REPORTS


SOCIAL CONVENOR - BRIDGET

Opening Field Day and sign up will be out in the coming week. Bridget has organized the menu.

Bar has increased the choices for 0% alcohol beverages. 

There will be weekly specials. Tuesday we will order drinks and food at the bar. Tip is not automatically added. 


TUESDAY CONVENOR – LYNN ATTLEY

Will have more foursomes this year. Threesomes were used to accommodate late additions to the tee sheet. 

Please call Karsen (the pro shop) if you need to cancel.

Lynne asked if there was a need to start earlier to avoid the slow play that happened last year since there are open tee times before our tee times. The group did not think this was necessary.

The book club will be running this year. Bring a book or take a book. 


GAMES AND HANDICAP - SANDI

Please enter your score within 24 hours of play to be most accurate. If you don’t play 18 holes enter O’s for holes not played. 

Match play - Sandi will complete the cards. Match play is not permitted during Saturday Skins game. Sign up is available if you would like to learn how to play a match game. Record your score actual score and not your adjusted score.

Mary Buckley will be played on the Club Championship weekend. 

New this year the Ecclectic will be played 2 Tuesdays

OFD will be played on May24th. Play will be from Red/Green tees. The deadline to sign up or cancel is May 18th. There will be a modified shotgun if we have enough people. 

The Solheim Cup will be played August 30th.


5. SANDY YOUNG

The BBQ has more choices and an express line. Beverages will be available at the BBQ and Pro Shop. Pro Shop will have Grab and Go offerings. The bar cart will run 7 days a week. On course ordering will be offered at some point this season. 

The club hopes to have table service at some point this season. 

Saturday Skins will be a crossover between 7:30 and 8:30. Sandy will need to have your confirmation by Wed. 


6. TRACEY BODASHEFSKY - INTERCLUB and CITY AND DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP

DWS members will compete in the Peterborough City and District on Aug 22nd and 23rd at Wildfire and Kawartha. 

Interclub will run this year. The format is a 2 person better ball and the scores from 3 of the 4 teams count. Locations will be Lindsay, Pinecrest and Ashbrook.

The inconsistencies with Handicaps from some clubs is being worked on.

Tracey asked the members if there is an interest in fun reciprocals (no scoring) at Warkworth and Ashbrook. The members are interested. 


7. JEANNE BEAITH 

The Devil’s is scheduled for Aug 18th. All 3 tees will be used. 

Blog – reminder to send in photos

If you are playing the Red/Green or the Green tees you might have noticed that the Net Double Bogey score (aka maximum adjusted score) is not accurate for those tees on the computer. The computer adjusts to the red tees as a default Jeanne made up some charts for you to use as an alternative. She gave some out at the meeting and they are available in the locker room.

at Ash Brook Golf Club

 

Come join the Fun! - Enjoy a fun day of golf, good company and plenty of laughs at a neighbouring course for a special discounted rate. 

 

The Game - a relaxed 2-person better ball (count 1 low net per hole). - Sign up with a partner or on your own—we'll pair you up. (on board or text 905-373-6110)

Lots of Prizes - 3 low net, 4 closest to the pin and 4 closest to the target

Cost     $45 for golf ($20 cart extra) plus a $5 game fee.

Interclub News

DWS Interclub Games

Get ready to tee it up, meet new friends, and enjoy some friendly competition!

Your Interclub Committee is excited to launch this season's Interclub events, with something for everyone—whether you enjoy a relaxed day on the course or love the challenge of representing Dalewood.

Our season begins with the Dalewood – Ash Brook Friendly Mixer on Thursday, July 30 at Ash Brook Golf Club. Then we'll welcome our Ash Brook friends back to Dalewood on Tuesday, August 25 for another fun day together.

For those interested in competitive golf, the City & District Championship takes place August 22–23, giving you the opportunity to represent Dalewood alongside players from other clubs.

Sign-up sheets for all events are posted on the Games Board in the Lower Hall.

Whether you're joining us for fun, friendship, or a little friendly competition, we'd love to see you out on the course. Come join the fun!
