More Opening news . . .

The big winner of the day was Ariane Macdonald who won the 50/50 draw.  (The relief shown by people who actually lost was hilarious, but you had to be there!!)  Ariane was in the Pot of Gold and on a winning team, as well.  Drinks on Ariane???

Opening Field Day - Sunday, May 26

Clear sunny skies, but cool temperatures greeted 40 hearty women on Sunday for our Opening Field Day. 

However a little cool weather has never stopped Dalewood women from having a good time.  Later, here we are ready to enjoy Jennifer's dinner - it was very good!!

New Blog: New Constitution: New Era!

Hi Golfers!

The 2013 season is up and running and in full “swing”.   Women’s Opening Field Day is Sunday May 26^th. There are still lots of blank spaces. It is a fun, relaxed afternoon of golf. The format is Step Aside, meaning all 4 golfers drive; the shot deemed the best is chosen, and the person who hit it must “step aside” (not hit the next shot).  This continues until the ball is holed out. This means you are not playing the same person’s ball. No pressure! There is still time to sign up!! 

You will see on right side pages of the blog, a copy of our new constitution and by-laws, policies and procedures, and games rules. I would like to again thank Jennifer Rogers and Dale Hodge for taking our previous documents and rewriting them to simplify procedures, and clearly outline expectations for the women’s section. 

A few highlights of the changes:

~ the term of office for the positions is 2 years, with a maximum of 3 terms.

~ we no longer have a Vice Games Captain or Second Vice President on the executive.

~ the executive sets the costs of yearly assessments, weekly games, trophy prizes without bringing forth as a motion to the section.

~ the agenda for the AGM shall be published in advance of the meeting.

~ there is a Nominating Committee composed of the Past President, Vice President, and one non-executive member. Nominees for executive positions are posted in advance of the AGM.

We will be looking for a Secretary, Treasurer, Handicap, and Historian. Please read online or read in the locker room about the responsibilities of each position.

The Nominating Committee this year is Jeanne Beaith, Linda Issac, and Laura Roberge.

GCPD - Golf Canada Pin Day

Tuesday was supposed to be our first GCPD. If you played you know that we played the back 9 twice due to aeration.  So the GCPD was postponed to May 21.  If you wish to take part, after you play your round put your unadjusted score, handicap and net on the sheets inside the locker room. There is a basket for the scorecards. There will be 9 GCPD rounds all season and 4 will be counted. A pin is awarded to the winner. Remember to enter your adjusted score in the computer as a "tournament" score.

This tournament gets our season off to a great start. The format is a "step-aside scramble".  It's a fun format with not a lot of pressure. You must be a member of the Women's Section (i.e. paid your $40 assessment) to play in it. Everyone receives at least a $10 certificate from the pro shop. If you are a 9-hole member, you may use one of your games and pay the guest fee for the other 9 holes.

Happy to have Cuyler back on staff - she gave us an extra treat by bringing Riley out for a visit at Opening Breakfast.
