Please note this is an amendment to the initial announcement about the Greta Philips tournament.

After reviewing feedback received from our members, it was decided that scores will stand for those who were able to complete their games.

For the majority of players, who were not able to complete their games, the time frame of September 3 to 9 remains intact. We will send out a reminder close to that time. As before, those who could not play in June are welcome to join in September. Our golf calendar is very busy, and in order to keep it moving smoothly (weather permitting this summer, it seems) we left this timeline in place.

We trust all will find this satisfactory.

Thanks to all our members who expressed support of our original decision and look forward to seeing those great scores roll in.

See you on the course

Barb

A message from Barb Pemberton, our Games Captain:

Due to the drastic weather conditions we have recently encountered and the condition of the course, we are not certain when the course will reopen, or when carts will be allowed out. We are making a couple of adjustments to our Women's golf calendar:

Match play will be extended one week and participants will get notification with details on this from Ann Hall.
The Greta Philips Better Ball Trophy has been tabled until the week of September 3 to 9th. We will start from scratch. You have that time frame to replay, or find a partner if you couldn't play this week. Our calendar is too chock full to move to another Sunday/Tuesday combo.

We are sorry for the inconvenience but Mother Nature sure seems to have it out for us this year.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Barb

Viewer discretion is advised. If photos our flooded golf course upset you, don't look at these pictures. Thanks Yvonne for sending, I guess. 😉

A message from Ann Hall, our handicap and Match Play Convenor, regarding Match Play:

Welcome to the start of another match play season.  The matches are now well underway and many have moved on to the next rung on the ladder.    Upon reviewing the submitted cards I would like to remind everyone to enter your adjusted score in the computer as a 'Tournament' score.  Also, you must enter your scores for all 9 or 18 holes on the card, even if the match is over, and total your score.  It is difficult for me to check the totals if the last few holes of the match have not been entered.

If you are unable to complete your match due to weather the following rules apply:

Page 50, Rule 6(d) says:

Play must be resumed from where it was discontinued, even if resumption occurs on a subsequent day.
Exception in match play:
Players discontinuing match play by agreement are not subject to disqualification, unless by so doing the competition is delayed.
This on page 49, under Rule 6(a).

If you would like to play your matches without anyone joining you be sure to add 'guests' to your tee time if you are booking on the Chronogolf system or contact the Pro Shop and they will 'block' the other tee spots.

And last, but certainly not least, for those in the Putting competition, be sure to have the Pro Shop set up the 'green' immediately prior to your match.

I've certainly seen an improvement in the scoring so far, thanks to those 'friendly' dot's and the +'s and the -'s.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks
Ann

Sad news!
Sue Porter-Clayton has passed away. Sue took up golf fairly recently and joined Dalewood Women's Section a few years ago. Sincere condolences to husband, Barry Clayton.

The Member - Guest is on Sunday, July 9. From Yvonne Shannon "The cost is $50 for members and $70 for guests (not including carts). So far we are at about 30 and need at least 40 participants to go forward with it."

The theme is Canada 150. Come out for a fun day. All the details are on the bulletin board.

Animal life at Dalewood - this snapping turtle was on #12 on Tuesday - thanks to Mary Lou Secord and Sandi MacDonald for sending pictures.
