Heart and Stroke Tournament - Women Only

This golf tournament information came to my attention on Wednesday, which I will post on the bulletin board.  In light of Tracey’s heart attack and the fact that more women die from heart attacks and strokes than all other diseases combined, it might be something you are interested in supporting.  The cost is $80, of which $35 goes to H & S.  It takes place at Heron Landing on Landsdowne St. W. in Peterborough on Friday September 13, at 9:00 am.  It is a 4 person scramble (with one drive required per person on each 9).  Only 88 people will be admitted to the tournament.  There will be a silent auction, lunch, and prizes after the golf.

If you are planning to put a team in, I suggest you get on it.

I played Heron Landing last summer and it’s a pretty good little course.  Interesting holes, not long, and can be walked easily.

Divot Bottles - Yes, Linda, that's what they are! ;-)

The majority of our women should be congratulated for the great job they do using these divot bottles.  However, I have played with a few new members who are not familiar with them.  When you see this trailer, you should pick up one bottle and use it to fill divots on that one holeKick out the old dead divots and fill those holes, as well.  Pack the sand down with the bottom of the bottle or your foot.  When you finish, put the divot bottle on the trailer at the end of the hole.  It only takes an extra minute or two and it makes a huge difference to our fairways.

Too bad many of the men (who probably take the majority of the divots) don't do as good a job as we do!!

Peterborough District Championship at Dalewood

For those of you who might be interested, Dalewood is hosting the District Championship on August 12, 2013, starting at noon.  This tournament is open to everyone - women, men, and juniors.  Dalewood is waiving the golf cost for members to play in this so the cost for the tournament is only $40 for prizes and dinner.  Prizes are awarded for juniors, amateur (any age), senior (50+), diamond (60+), double diamond (70+) as well as overall net.  Over 50% of the field will get a prize.

This is a good chance to try a little competition and support your District.  Forms are on the board downstairs under GAO/RCGA or you can email me and I can send you a copy.  The closing date is July 29.

Also don't forget to sign up for the Club Championship coming this weekend.  The entry fee of $35 gets you into the skills challenge on Friday, 2 rounds of golf on the weekend, and dinner on Sunday evening, plus prizes.  All women members are welcome!!

Who's game to give this a try?

You have probably seen this or a similar video over the winter.  Who thinks this would be a cool thing to try on a Tuesday before we go out to play?  (The morning golfers could come out to the practice green after lunch.)

Unfortunately you can't just copy and paste the above address, but you can type it into the URL at the top of the page and see the six guys putting.

Depending on how many want to try it we could have a couple of teams.  I could ask Tyler to make one hole a little deeper so more balls will fit in the hole.  I will put up a sheet on the Tuesday board, to see if there is some interest.  Even if you don't want to putt, we will need a cheering squad and a videographer!!  How about Tuesday Aug 13, around 1 pm??

Ball mark and repair

Below is some instruction to know and pass on to others about the proper way to repair a ball mark so that when you tap it down, it almost becomes invisible. When you see a circle of dirt on the green, you know someone repaired it the wrong way.  (Replacing the small tuft of grass will probably not heal.)
