2021 DC (During Covid)

From Barb Pemberton:

Welcome to the first edition of our 2021DC (During COVID) golf tales!
So nice to now be able to both golf and have a bevy on the patio! Almost feels normal doesn’t it 🍺🍷

First celebration was all Patty’s with her hole in one on #4, May 23! You never tire of watching that little ball roll into the cup, so exciting! Can you say Who’s Next?

June 9th brought a sizzling score of 96 out of Lynn’s golf bag. There are many, many more scores like that coming from Lynn this year for absolute sure. Congratulations πŸ₯³

Not to be outdone, Joan had a great round of 91 on June 10th. Straight. Down. Every. Fairway. πŸ₯± .  Only kidding lol! So nice to watch.

Is anyone noticing the similarities of those 2 rounds?? Both played with me! 😁
Perhaps I should start renting myself out 🀣🀣🀣

Look at these 2 pics….. Some of our finer moments
First, with the tee at the very back of #17 on June 12th, Ariane, Cathy and I had great tee shots. Only Cathy made the Birdie! Thanks to Betty for being available to snap the shot.

Along the same theme, look at these 3 great shots on #8, June 22, by Betty, Linda and Jeanne. As you may realize, my shot put me behind the camera this time.

If you are a sharp cookie, you will notice that these fine shots are again made by people playing with me!!! I don’t think it is a coincidence 😜

Last but not least, I know most of us enjoy a little treat now and then, so Gail has been thoughtful enough to share her secret cookie recipe. Love when you can satisfy a craving in a not bad for you kinda way. Can’t wait to try them πŸ˜‹! I am making this big so everyone can read it.

That’s all I got for now folks. Unfortunately another similarity in this writing is that it is all submitted by me. If there is nothing that comes to me for the month of July, I will get the hint and quit this, but if you are having as much fun out there as I know you are, send it to me so we can all smile and chuckle ! Look forward to hearing from you ⛳️🏌️‍♀️

From our Games Captain:

In the spirit of camaraderie amongst the DWS women, the Games Committee, over the years, has suggested that we have different partners for the various team partner play throughout the year. Given the odd 2 years of golf we have experienced, a gentle reminder may be in order.

Email notifications and July 13

I think I have successfully moved the email notifications to a new provider - Follow.it. You will likely receive a notification from Follow.it on Monday or Tuesday confirming that you are subscribed to the Dalewood Women's Section Blog. You will need to confirm that you are subscribed. If you don't see the message check your spam or junk boxes.

The posts will look slightly different than before but you can still click on the bold title to get to the page. There may be advertising at the bottom, but the service is free and that's how they pay for it. They have assured me that email addresses are secure.

Fingers crossed that this all works! 🀞

~~~~~~~~~~~
The Bulger Two-Ball Alternate Shot Trophy is going to be held on Tuesday, July 13th. So now is the time for you to get yourself a partner to participate. I will be sending out a sign-up sheet to be filled in, so once you have your partner, have one of you do the sign up for both. Rules and scorecards will be available on the 13th. You will have the choice to play in the morning or the afternoon.
The cost is $2.00 a person. You will be able to register in the pro shop and leave your money in the box provided.
Any questions just send me an email.
Diane Moffat Memorial Bench
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who so kindly made a donation so that a bench could be purchased in memory of our friend Diane Moffat.
Your generosity was overwhelming and because of it we have been able to purchase 2 benches. The first bench will be placed by the red tees, under the trees on #17 with a memorial plaque.  The placement of the second bench is yet to be determined. It will also have a plaque with a quote which reflects Diane’s ever positive attitude while on the course.
We are pleased that the benches have been locally sourced from Taylors in Bailieboro however as with so many things this year the production time is longer than usual.  We are hoping to receive the benches by mid-summer.
On a final note, we wanted each of you to know that we were able to share with Diane our intentions and she was not only surprised but very moved to know that she will forever be a part of our golfing community at Dalewood.
Thank you for your support
Barb, Patty, Yvonne & Lynn
The company that provides the email notifications for the Blog is discontinuing after June, so I am trying to transition to one that provides the same service. There may be some trying times ahead (2 notifications, for example), but as we have said for the last 18 months, we'll all get through this together.
 A message from Ariane and Lynn:
Now that we can finish our round of golf on the patio with a beverage or better yet, dinner, afternoon tee times will begin at 1:00.
Every Monday you will receive an email from Dalewood announcing the weekly specials.  We have also included the menus.
Due to the current COVID restrictions allowing only 4 to a table and no inside dining, we cannot reserve tables for aprΓ¨s golf at this time and so we will all just have to “go with the flow” and be flexible when necessary.
June Newsletter
 From Ariane Macdonald:
DALEWOOD WOMEN’S SECTION
WELCOME BACK, AGAIN!
The course is open, the tee sheet is filled, and the weather is perfect! It was great to see so many of the Women’s Section out and playing during the Long Weekend.
Lynn Attley has sent an email regarding the Tuesday League. The sign-up routine will be as it was last year. Open the attachment, add your name and preferred time to play and close the browser. Your information will automatically be added. The Tuesday sign-up email will go out on Monday and the deadline for sign up will be Friday at noon. Any changes after Friday need to be made through the pro-shop, not through Lynn. After Sunday, any openings will be made available to women, non-members wishing to play with us. Please let Lynn know if you are not receiving her emails (lynn.attley@gmail.com).
Those who have signed up for Match Play should have received an email from Dale Hodge. Please ensure you adhere to the dates and match play rules. The blog has everything you need to know about Match Play and its etiquette. Dale has put copies of the Match Play on the bathroom bulletin board. The matches are also posted on the blog and will be kept up-to-date.
Sandy Young has emailed us regarding Saturday Skins. Cut off time is Wednesday at 3 pm. Please let Sandy know if you are interested in playing Skins and not receiving her emails (Sandy.young@hki.com).
Please find attached an updated calendar just in case you have misplaced the first one!
When playing on Tuesdays, and to help speed of play, please do the following:
  • If you go into the creek twice in a row, pick up your ball and continue on the other side. Most likely you will have reached your max before you get to the green.
  • If you have reached your max, please pick-up. Max is 2 over par plus strokes you get for that hole, based on your handicap. (Also known as Net Double Bogey).
  • If you hit your drive about 100 – 125 yards, it is recommended that you play from the orange tees. Dalewood is a long course, you don’t have to make it harder for yourself.
We will continue to celebrate key milestones. Details will be forthcoming in the blog. Please email your achievement to Anne Parks (anneparks48@gmail.com) with a photo if appropriate. The blog will be used as the celebratory vehicle.
Also, please remember to follow all the covid-19 protocols. We are all hoping that Ontario can proceed to the 3 phase reopening plan announced recently.
Have fun golfing!
Thursday, 27 May 2021
Greetings from your Games Captain,
I had, with enthusiasm, scheduled the Ponting Tournament for Tuesday, June 15. But given the very late start to the golf season, the fact that there is no chance to gather after the event and that things still seem to be in a state of flux, I am suggesting that we postpone it to later in the year. Joan Hayward who is the convenor agreed as did the DWS committee.
Although this may be a blight on my quest to be the Games Captain of 2021 with no games under her belt, the season is still young!
Keep your head down and keep swinging. 😎
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hallelujah! We are finally back on the course!!
Unfortunately, we are still under COVID restrictions, and cannot gather at the 19th hole. πŸΊπŸ·πŸ”πŸŒπŸ₯—
Soooooo . . . we thought it would be fun to resurrect our DC (During COVID) Golf Tales Take 2! This will allow us to share our joys and laughter among our group while we can’t do so in person!

To refresh your memory, we will summarize your best, your hilarious and your 'you won’t believe this 😳' golf stories at the end of each month. This means you must get your stories and/or pics to us so we have lots to share and keep us in touch in a light, fun-filled manner!

We had a lot of fun with this last year and would really like to keep it going so don’t forget to get your stories to Barb or she will hunt you down, and you know she ain’t kidding πŸ•΅️‍♀️

We hope you enjoy your time on the course, and wish you many good scores, and many happy moments, which then must be shared with your golf friends!!

See you on the course 🏌️‍♀️
Anne and Barb
