This and That

Cancelling a tee time: If you happen to be the first name listed for a tee time, especially on a Saturday or Tuesday, and you need to cancel, please phone the pro shop to do so. If you take your name out online through Chronogolf, you will cancel the whole group from that time.

Bunkers: Always enter and exit a bunker from the low side - do not climb down or up steep faces, even if it might be be faster and mean less raking. Climbing steep bunker faces causes damage to the face of the bunker and can cause the edge of the bunker to collapse. Leave rakes on the low side (and away from the entrance to the green), to encourage others to do the same thing. As you leave the bunker use your club to knock sand off the bottom of your shoes, especially from a green side bunker. You don't want to leave sandy footprints on the green.

By the way, more sand is going in our green side bunkers this week!!

Provisional balls: If you think your ball may be lost or has gone out of bounds, you should hit a provisional ball and announce it to your playing partners. It will save you the "walk of shame" back to the tee or from wherever you hit it, if you can't find your original ball. This does not apply to balls hit into a hazard or penalty area. (In fact, you may not hit a provisional if you are unsure if your ball is in a hazard.)

Here is a link to a short video about a provisional ball.

And if you are in match play, don't forget to get your matches arranged soon - time flies, as we all know!!
