Introducing Dalewood Women’s Team Play

If you’re looking for something to add camaraderie, fun, participation, and a connection to the club without a lot of competition, this is the solution for you!

The league will consist of 4 teams set up with players from 4 different handicap groups.  Each team will have a captain and the teams will be randomly drawn on “Draft Night” May 13 at 7:30.  (Final date for sign-up is May 10).  Team names will be also be chosen that night.  Team play will begin on May 27.

There will be 8 Tuesdays throughout the summer when your team plays against another team (on paper only) for nine holes.  You may play at any time on a Tuesday and with whom you want to play.  Your NET score will be used (with a maximum per hole according to your handicap) to contribute to your team.  Only the best 4 or 5 net scores will be counted so the more people the team has out to play, the better that team will do.  If you’re having a bad game, don’t worry, you can still contribute participation points for simply being there.

You don't have a handicap?  No problem! The program will figure out a handicap for you after 4 games, if you don’t already have one.  Don’t let that be a deterrent.  You can play to a 43 hcp to start with, if you don’t have one.

EVERYONE is welcome, whether or not you belong to the women’s section or play in the regular game on Tuesday.  The cost for the season is $20.  All prize money will be returned at the end of the season to the winning teams and individuals.  

Look for the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the hall downstairs.  If you can’t be at the club by May 10 to sign up, email me (jbeaith@sympatico.ca) to let me know that you want to play on a team.  If you have any questions, email me or bring them to our Opening Meeting on May 3.

Greetings!

 

On behalf of the women's executive I would like to invite all returning Dalewood women members and new women members to our Dalewood Women's Spring General Meeting and President's Welcome Reception.  Rather than a breakfast and meeting again this year, we're trying something different to kick off the golf season. 

 

Here is the event format: 

 

Saturday May 3rd

 

2:00 Registration in the Great Hall 

2:30 Meeting

3:15 Fashion Show - Golf clothing, shoes and accessories on display and available for purchasing 

3:45 President's Welcome Reception - beverages and appetizers

 

There's time beforehand for those of you who wish to golf.  Please make your own tee times.

 

Next week you will receive a phone call from one of the executive who will provide further details about the event.  Please RSVP to the executive member who phones you.  Please DO NOT reply to this email.  If by chance you don't receive a call by April 25th, then by all means, call me or send me a quick email .  My number is 905-885-5005.  It's important that we know if you plan to attend so we can make the necessary arrangements with the kitchen.

 

It promises to be a fabulous afternoon.  There will be four free raffle draws, a 50/50 draw, a fashion show, and a chance to meet new members and socialize at the President's Welcome Reception.  One of our goals this year is to offer more opportunities for us to get together as a women's section and this event is the first of more to come!!  So please make every effort to come out and join in the fun!

President’s Message

As another new golf season draws near, golfers filled with renewed energy and optimism are anxious to get back to the game and reunite with good friends.   Sorry pretty robins, but dusting off clubs or unpacking them after a long drive north is the first real sign of spring!

This year promises to be a year of good fun and friendship, not to mention some fabulous days on our beautiful Dalewood course.  Jamie and staff are busy ensuring that the club is picture perfect for our return.  Your 2014 executive are also hard at work preparing for the new golf season.  Your feedback from the survey last fall will offer us guidance over the course of the season.  Great ideas and new games will provide a fresh look to the women’s section.  I have made it my personal mandate to involve as many new faces as possible in volunteer roles.  No need to take on an executive position or volunteer for the entire season.  Helping out for a day, an event or even for a few minutes will be really, really appreciated!  After all, this is your club so the greater the involvement, the stronger the women’s section will be.

The Spring General Meeting will be held the afternoon of Saturday May 3, followed by a fashion show and the President’s Welcome Reception.  It will be a great way for everyone to socialize, trade winter stories, and meet new women members while enjoying a beverage and some appetizers.  Soon you will receive a phone call from one of the executive giving you details, but for now put May 3, on your calendar.  Registration in the Great Hall begins at 2:00 pm so there’s time beforehand for those of you who would like to golf.
