Brad welcomed us from the pro shop and told us about the new assistant, Craig Pitt. They are there to help with all your golfing needs from equipment to lessons.
There was a lot of good information shared and some changes taking place as well. Anne Parks, the Tuesday convenor, noted the we will now have three handicap groups on Tuesday, instead of 2, for fair prize distribution. She also noted that we may now use our "maximum score" (Equitable Stroke Control) when putting in your scores for Tuesday play. Now, there will no longer be a difference in your Team Play score, your "toonie" score, and the score that goes in the computer for your handicap. That should help alleviate some confusion. If a player decides to pick up on a hole (because she will have reached her max score) she can still count 2 putts. If you want to play on Tuesday, sign up on the bulletin board by the Saturday before. Once the draw is made, any changes need to be done through the pro shop.
Games Captain, Barb Pemberton, showed everyone the new method for putting your "achievements" in. Starting this week, there will be a slip of paper to fill out the achievement (ringer, birdie, par, bogey, chip-in) with your name, handicap, and the date played. Barb will then put the achievements on the board - the player no longer does that herself. Also, we were reminded that only one game a week (from Sunday to Saturday) may be used for your achievements. Other competitions, such as matches, Greta Phillips, and Club Championship, may be used as well and should be noted on the paper. (If a match is used, for example, you may actually have two slips of paper from the same week.)
The "theme" for our Opening Field Day is "Dots are Your Friend", so show up "dotty" and the theme for the Member - Guest this year is "Beatlemania".
All the important dates for the season are listed on the right side of the Blog. Have a great summer and keep it on the short grass!
