Congratulations to Ann Hall, who shared her good playing at her home club in Florida during their Club Championship.

She said it was "a brutal 3 days with wicked winds and they moved us back a set of tees. However, we all endured. You may notice the plaque shows a man's head . . . they goofed . . . but I now have one with a ponytail!!".

Thanks for sharing, Ann.

Any other vacay pictures are more than welcome!

See you all in a few weeks. . . .

A message from Rachel Jackson

Sawadee ka ladies,

It's Rachel here, all the way from Thailand. I remember many of you expressing interest in hearing about my trip and how I am doing so I thought I could give you all an update.

I am about 4.5 months into my teaching trip now and I am loving it. I teach in a town called Surat Thani which is in the south of Thailand, at a little school called "Mathus Anuban". When I say little, it really is small... I only teach 42 kids! I teach 2-7 year olds mostly English as they are just learning the basics at this stage so there are no subjects per say. My kids are so cute! I'll add some pictures of them so you can see for yourself.

My parents came to visit for two weeks in January, was so nice to experience the north of Thailand with them and the islands.

On the subject of golf... I played my first round today. Let me tell you, it is very hard to find left handed clubs in Thailand. I have not met a single person who is a lefty here. A Thai local ordered me a set of irons online and they just arrived, YAY. Played today with my 7 clubs, no driver or putter haha. I hit my 5 iron basically every shot including putting! Let's just say my short game could use some work. There is only one golf course in my town and you can picture it as worse than Ashbrook (whoops did I say that?).

Anyways it's all for good fun and I am loving the heat. It was 37 degrees today, some would say a bit too hot but I am not complaining.

I hope you ladies are doing well. If you would like to add me on facebook to see the photos I am posting or shoot me a message, I will provide a link below. I finish teaching at the end of March and then going travelling with my boyfriend after that. I will be in Cobourg for the summer and then attending the University of Ottawa for teacher's college in September. Can't wait to golf this summer!

If you forgot to bring socks for Sandi's collection (Jordans's Socks) at Closing Field Day, or would like to donate a second time, she will gladly take any donations. Remember all socks donated here stay in Northumberland.

 For those who might not know The Little Treasure Shop is located just inside the front entrance to the hospital and managed by our very own Dale Hodge. Barb Pemberton also volunteers there.

Putting line

How many times do your curving putts end up on the low side of the hole, even when you have the speed correct. Like most amateurs, it will be about 85% of the time. It's because we generally don't play enough break.

Watch this 5 minute video below to help you understand why putting at the apex (or highest point of the curve) is not high enough. The visuals he sets up are really helpful.

Note from Anne, Christmas Dinner, Fall

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
CHRISTMAS DINNER
Last year we chose to have a Christmas dinner instead of the luncheon and it was the best attended ever. So, having spoken to a few members and to Jen, we are going to have a dinner again. As long as we have at least 30 people, we can have the lunch buffet menu for the same cost, $22.95 ++. (It includes ham, turkey and fixings, salads, soup, pasta, veggies, potatoes and dessert. Great meal, great deal.)
Unless, I hear from several that this won't work for you, I have booked 6 pm on Friday, Dec 2 for our annual Christmas dinner. Invite friends and family to join us. (Include some Monday league golfers, perhaps)
Lynn will set up the google doc sign up sheet, so watch for an email from her next week.
