How long have you golfed? I took up golf 10 years ago, but have not played in 5 years. A real newbie here.
What you like most about golf: Being out in the sunshine and having a drink afterwards.
Goal in golf this year: To try not to embarrass myself too much and to get to know the ladies at Dalewood.
Other activities or hobbies: My husband and I are avid gardeners.
Job: Still working as a Home Care Physiotherapist.
Married, kids, grandkids: Married to Len, with two daughters and two grandchildren, who love to come to the beach in Cobourg.
Lived elsewhere: I lived in Vancouver for 5 years after graduation. I never tired of taking the ferry over to Vancouver Island and exploring it.

Family Tees:
As a result of a recent Greens Committee meeting, in the coming days, you may see a set of "Family Tees" set up on many of the holes on the course. They will be much further forward than our current red tees, on most holes. The par 3's, with the exception of 17 will remain on red. The purpose is to give an alternate distance that juniors, beginners, and senior men and women can play from and have more fun. We will not have a rating for them this year, as it is in the experimental stage, but eventually we could get a rating from Golf Ontario in the future.
The greens committee would like feedback from our members about the choice of the location on each hole. While you are out playing a casual round, hit the occasional shot from the "Family Tee" and tell us what you think.
Greens Committee: Neil Pemberton, Jeanne Beaith, Iain Carruthers, Ken McDonald, Peter Wangen.

Sandra (Sandy) Webb
Born: Belleville, grew up in Kitchener, lived in Roseneath for 30 years.
Live now: Cobourg for 12 years.
How long you have golfed: Very sporadically. Maybe a dozen times with friends and a dozen times in tournaments.
What you like most about golf: I love being on the course.I find it very peaceful. I like the challenge and the camaraderie.
My goal in golf this year: To golf regularly to see if it is a game I want to commit to doing regularly.
Favourite drink at the 19th hole: A cold beer or a glass of wine.
Other activities or hobbies: theatre, movies, reading, travel, a good conversation, have enjoyed acting, and loved squash earlier in my life.
Job: Registered Psychotherapist in Private Practice and an Approved Adoption Practitioner.
Married, Kids, etc.: divorced, with two adult children, and three grandchildren.
Places you've lived: I have done work and presented conferences in Russia, Haiti, China, Ireland and travelled to India, South Africa, and Vietnam.

What you like most about golf: The challenge, the exercise, and meeting new people.
Your goal in golf this year: To lower my handicap, and play with as many members as possible.
Favourite 19th hole drink: Ice cold beer, followed by a Gin & Tonic.
Other activities, hobbies: Softball, hockey, knitting.
Job: Customer Service Resupply Manager at H&K International.
Married, kids, etc.: Partner, 13 nieces and nephews.

Personal Achievement Board:
A message from Barb Pemberton:
It's hard to believe the month of May has whizzed by! I would like to commend those who have started recording their Achievements and I am impressed how many have succeeded in submitting several lower scores for their Ringer board. For those just getting started....pick your best game of the week and start submitting! We are all available to help if you have any questions!
I would like to explain why I need you to complete the slips and refrain from trying to be helpful by writing on the boards yourself. By the end of the season many have completed lots of slips which means many entries are made on all the boards. It also means there is a very good chance there can be ties, or very close results. When this happens, I review the pertinent slips to ensure nothing has been missed or entered incorrectly. If you have just written on the board, with no slip, or changed a number on the board, I have no backup to double check. If you think I have made an error, please check with me so we can review together. At the end of the day, we all want to know the boards were completed with as much accuracy as possible!
Also, if I look at your slip and think you might have put numbers in wrong spots etc., I am going to make a note on it and pin it back on the board close to your Ringer board. You can return it to the box after correction. This is much easier for me than emailing individuals, even though I do enjoy talking to all of you, I would just rather do it face to face!

Matches are Posted
You can now check both the bulletin board and the blog (above on the tab) for the matches that you have signed up to play in. The first round must played by June 23. However, there are lots of second round matches that can be played if you don't have to wait for a bye.
Either person or team can take the initiative and contact your opponent to arrange some dates. The pro shop will accept dates for matches well in advance.
The winner of the match should then contact the next person you have to play as soon as possible.
Please don't wait until the last week before your "due date", because the weather just might not cooperate or other circumstances arise and then everyone else is delayed.

The weather cooperated very nicely for our Opening Field Day on Sunday May 26. The course is in great shape, despite the wet, cool spring we have had. As an added bonus, we were able to use the newly renovated tee on #4.

As thunder was rolling through and the downpour continued around 1:30 on Saturday, I was thinking how wise it was for our executive to postpone our Opening until Sunday.
