Management has asked the women to clean out our lockers in the event that the lockers may be spray painted during some renovation work. There is no guarantee that the belongings inside will not be damaged. Please do this as soon as possible as the work may begin anytime.
Thank you!

An uncommon sight at Dalewood
We have seen a heron or two, some turkeys occasionally, lots of geese in the spring and a few ducks, but I am not sure this particular kind of bird has visited us before:
Thanks to Joan Hayward for sending me the picture of the young swan in the pond at #8.
A reminder to RSVP to Jeanne if you wish to come to the luncheon on Dec 9, by Dec 4.

Two trick shots
On this miserable fall day, you need to watch these two guys hit unbelievable trick shots with their drivers. It will make your day! If I tried this, my driver would probably be upside down and backwards!!
(You will have to copy and paste the http address and put it in the url at the top of the page. A little work, but definitely worth it!)

Stay tuned for the Christmas Buffet coming Dec 9 - save the date.

Creed of the Amateur
The photo of this plaque was sent from Pinehurst by Janet Hull for us to appreciate:
Richard S. Tufts (1896-1980) was the grandson of James W Tufts, the founder of Pinehurst. He served as President of the USGA, Walker Cup Captain, and was a staunch believer in amateurism. As a protege of Donald Ross, he built 40 new holes at Pinehurst and revised many more. He was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame posthumously in 1992.

Solheim 2016
A Solheim report from convenor Sandi MacDonald:
After a rain postponement, the Second Annual Solheim took place on
Tuesday, Sept.27th. We had 18 golfers competing for their respective teams. The West team
was in the lead over the East 6 to 5 before the last group came in. We were
greeted by a member of the East team saying, " I broke 100 for the first time!" Congrats Lynn Attley, and yes, you guessed it - the East team won the toonies!
Final tally was East 7.5 to West 6.5.
A victorious effort by members of the East: Anne Parks, Janet Hull, Gail Richards, Donna Todd, Nancy
Sharpe, Patty McDonald, Tracey Bodashefsky, Sharon Klan and Lynn Attley.
A valiant effort by members of the West: Annabel Thorpe, Sandi MacDonald,
Linda MacDonald (best game this year at Dalewood), Joan Hayward, Mary Lou Secord, Ariane Macdonald, Laura
McCracken-Ebbrell, Diane Moffat, Barb Pemberton.
This tournament is strictly for a little year end fun, and a toonie....not
a tournament score. However, making the teams even has meant switching boundary
lines and therefore team wardrobe choices! With that in mind, we will have a
sign up in the spring, teams will be set so all will be ready to go at year end,
hopefully on a sunny Saturday! The plan is teams and team name will remain the
same from year to year. Players may be added or subtracted, but the core group
will remain the same.
Solheim participants enjoying some post game camaraderie!
Diane Moffat and Sharon Klan enjoying some Dalewood apples!

Achievement Board, Trophy Winners, and Closing Day Results
Another beautiful day on the golf course, followed by appetizers and a terrific roast turkey dinner, prepared by Chef Jen. Tracey and Ann presented all the year end trophies and certificates followed by the Closing Day prizes. Patty thanked the convenors of the day, the greens, pro shop, and kitchen staffs for a great day.

Laura and Harry
Laura Roberge is the only woman to have been on all three winning teams since the beginning of Team Play, so we thought it only appropriate that she should receive the coveted "Harry" to keep for a year. It appears that she is really pleased with him and I'm sure Harry has found a happy home!

Team Play Awards
Team Play Awards Night was Tuesday, Sept 20. We had 49 players sign up to play this year and we averaged 41.5 women playing on Team Play Tuesdays. 46 women played at least 6 out of 9 times - remarkable!
MVP for Deanne's Divas was Barb Pemberton, who played 8 games and counted all 8 times for 100% proficiency - that's consistent! MVP for Sharon's Klan was Ariane Macdonald who played all 9 rounds and counted 8 times for 89% proficiency - well done!
There were no clear MVP's for the first and second place teams - all players contributed pretty equally throughout the season with no real standouts.

Holes-in-one
It seems #8 is the popular hole to get a hole-in-one. Laura Roberge had one there on July 17. I missed posting it here, and no picture was available, but congratulations, Laura! She's having a great season!!
I was fortunate enough to have one there today as well. Drinks on Tuesday!

Devil's Tournament
So that's what a normal summer day feels like! The weather cooperated beautifully for our 7th Annual Devil's Tournament. We had a great turnout with 36 players and hopefully everyone had a great time playing the 6-6-6 format.
Our dinners provided by Chef Jen and our "Olympic Medals".
Gold Medal Winners Sharon Klan and Ene Milner
Silver Medal Winners Janet Hull and Sally Okazawa
Bronze Medal Winners Gail Richards and Diane Arsenault
Out of the Medals but in fourth place were Tracey Bodashefsky and Pierrette Heydon
What are the chances of two people hitting from the same spot to almost the same place? Dale and Rosemarie hit their shots within inches of each other on #9 during the scramble portion of the game. Decisions, decisions! Hopefully the chose the one closer to the green!

Hole-in-one!!
Congratulations to Joan Hayward who had her third hole-in-one on Saturday, Aug 20. It was on #8 and during our women's skins game, so no one beat her net 0! Thanks for the drinks, Joan!

Triathlon results
Triathlon is a cruel sport. Andrew Yorke suffered a crash, unable to avoid a fallen cyclist ahead of him. He finished the race, a little worse for wear with scrapes and cuts.

A rainy Tuesday!!
Ironically, on a rain date for Team Play, there is no play at all since the course is closed. We've had pretty good luck with weather since that first year of Team Play.
Make sure you sign up for the Devil's Tournament next Tuesday, Aug 23. It's always a fun event where two players are paired together, one from the higher handicap group and one from the lower half. We play 6 holes better ball, 6 scramble and 6 alternate shot. The cost is $10 for prizes. Please also make a food selection if you are staying for dinner (and why wouldn't you?).
Please be at the club by 11:15 on Aug 23 for the pairings draw, to give us time to prepare the cards, and the back shop time to get carts sorted out.

Profile of Andrew Yorke and Summer Party
I came across this profile of Andrew Yorke, grandson of Gerry and his home town of Caledon, ON on CBC. If you can't click on this to open it, just copy and paste into the address box at the top of the page: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wUBfjh7Zefc
We'll all be cheering for him on Aug 18 in the triathlon.
Although there were no holes-in-ones on the golf course, a good time was had by all who attended. Great BBQ was put on by Jen and her staff and then enjoyable entertainment by Andy Earle for awhile, and then Caroline, Louisa and Mitch. Great job, folks! About 80 people were there to enjoy the evening and it was actually pleasantly cool sitting in the shade!! Thanks Jamie, Dave, and Mackenzie for a fun afternoon and evening.
