Susan and Nancy

Susan Ross-Foster is having a great time in Florida!  She and her cousin attended a brunch and exhibition/instruction by Nancy Lopez at Pelican Pointe Golf and Country Club, Venice, Florida.  There was a silent auction to raise funds for the junior girls' golf and one of the items was a Nancy Lopez autographed putter, for which Susan was the successful bidder. In addition Susan reports that she is going to Ireland with Nancy and her team on another golf adventure in 2018.  She also stated that Nancy's booked in for knee surgery soon, but "even with the bad knees that lady can hit a ball consistently amazing!"

Locker Room

The locker room is now completely finished and you can begin using your locker. Some have been moved but most lockers are near the location they were before. Your name and new number are displayed, so it shouldn't be too hard to find. If you have any problems, contact Patty at kpmac@cogeco.ca.

President's Message, 2017

Another year has flown by and here we are ready to enjoy the 2017 season of golf at Dalewood. Our Locker room has been completely renovated and looks wonderful. You'll be amazed at the work that has been done on our behalf. Thanks to the Board for getting this project underway and to Neil Pemberton, Tom Bullen and Pete Wangen for the dozens of hours they put in to make this a reality. If you see these men at the club, please say thank-you for a job well done! I also want to thank Susan Meldrum for sharing her expertise in design. Among other things, she worked with others to choose colours, make choices on purchases, hunt down bargains and give advice when needed. Barb Pemberton was there with Susan to help make decisions and check that all was going as planned. She also kept me updated with pictures and information during the reno. Well done Barb and Susan!

Congratulations to Brad Pemberton who achieved his CPGA certification this spring and is now our new Head Golf Pro for 2017. He will continue running the Pro Shop with Dave Cormier and will give golf lessons if you need to brush up on your skills.

Dalewood has a modernized dress code which will be in effect this golf season. It will be posted in various places throughout the club for you to read.

The Spring General Meeting will be held on Saturday, May 6. It's a time to reunite with friends and meet new members. Vendors (Adidas, Lopez, Loud Mouth, Callaway, Footjoy) will be there from 1:00-2:30 pm this year displaying the new styles in clothing and shoes. You will be able to browse the racks, try on clothing and make purchases. Registration will be from 1:30 -2:30. During this timeframe appetizers and bar service will be available for your enjoyment. A member of the executive will be phoning you soon to give you the details.

As last year, I will send updates throughout the season to keep you informed of the happenings at Dalewood. There will also be info on the Blog. If you have any questions or need information please feel free to approach any executive member. Their contact information will be on the Executive bulletin board outside the locker room.

Locker Room message

From our President Patty:

The locker room renovation is almost completed but we need a little more time to put everything back in place. There are piles of stuff on the floor that need to be organized and it will take at least another 2 weeks to make the area safe.  Please wait a little longer before you try to access your locker. When I will return next week, we will begin the job of replacing all our accessories. In the meantime, if you are over there and see the guys at work, give them a  big "Thank- you". They have done a great job!

Friends in New Smyrna Beach

We enjoyed some great company at Venetian Bay Golf Club and afterwards, in north east Florida with Laura and John Ebbrell - a little cool last Wednesday, but lots of sun and fun. Thanks for hosting us!

The next morning, Laura said she hadn't seen the sun THAT early in a long time - beautiful beach!

Golf in Arizona

Diane Arsenault sent this picture from the golf course in the Village of Oak Creek, just outside Sedona, Arizona. She said the weather went from a mini snow storm on a hike in the first week, to a second week of 15C temps, and then to a heat wave of 80 - 90F this week. They had the pleasure of playing with a young star from the women's golf team at Northern Arizona University who hit 250-300 yards drives and was "lethal around the greens". Her name is Sofia Anokhina and she had just won a NCAA tournament the previous weekend shooting -12 for three rounds! That may be a name to remember in the future. Keep the pictures coming!

Celebrating St Paddy's Day
