Why should I join the Women's Section?
  • meet new friends to play golf with so you can feel comfortable putting your name on the tee sheet
  • share some laughs on Opening and Closing Field Days, and on Tuesdays (However, you don't need pay the assessment to join us on Tuesdays.)
  • take part in some competition such as match play (all you need is a handicap)

In case anyone is wondering what the $40 assessment for the Women's Section is used for, here is the answer:

  • prizes for Opening and Closing Field Days (if you play in both you will get at least 1/2 of your money back)
  • prizes for all of the trophies we play for throughout the summer (doubles and singles match play, putting competition, partner better-ball, and partner 2-ball)
  • prizes for the ringer, birdie, par, and bogey boards
  • Golf Canada Pins, Break 100, 90, 80 pins, Eagle and Hole-in-one pins
  • AND the appies and wine at the President's Reception

The only things not covered by the assessment are the Club Championship and the Devil's Tournament.
Have you ever wondered why a ball might get caught in a tree? Here's a good answer.  Joan Hayward unfortunately hit her ball out of bounds on #7, but as we approached the area we could definitely see a ball suspended 2 feet off the ground.  How did these spindly little twigs managed to stop and support a golf ball?

Open House - Saturday, April 13

Dalewood staff hosted an Open House on Saturday, April 13, where we enjoyed some appetizers from our new chef, Jennifer.  Most enjoyed a beverage as well.  Happy to be back at for another year are Gerry Yorke, Joan Hayward, Eleni Ponting, and Marie VanDusen.  Now if only the weather would warm up.

Staff put up our new sign at the road. Looking good!!

When will Dalewood open for the 2013 season?  I'm predicting April 17.

On St. Patrick's Day we went to G-Mac's new Tavern in Orlando, Nona Blue, but he wasn't there. So we went on to Bay Hill and who should we find there, but Graeme McDowell and his father playing a practice round. We asked to have a picture taken and he could not have been nicer about it. What a great guy!
