Devil's Tournament
Having received so little rain over this summer, we needed it, but did it have to come on this day?? However, most of us finished before it really came down and little rain never deterred this hardy group!
Many thanks to my group of helpers this year, who get the work done during the draw and after: Laura McCracken Ebbrell, Joan Hayward, Betty Bright, Dale Hodge, Dianne Beatty and Lynn Attley. Couldn't do it without you!

New Bridge Railings
The good news is our new railings may keep both our motorized and walking carts out of the water.
The bad news is: if you hit the railing, you play the ball as it lies. After checking with my Level 4 rules official friend, her ruling is: "anywhere except on the putting green, when a ball is in motion accidentally hits an outside influence (any person, animal or object), the ball must be played as it lies (Rule 11.1)".

The Devil's Google Doc will be out as soon as I get a price for our food selections.
Please sign up by Friday.

ACHIEVEMENT BOARD
From Sandi:
At our recent DWS exec meeting we discussed the dwindling participation on the Achievement Board (in the locker room). There are prizes at the end of the year covered by your DWS funds. We would love to see more names on the board as our current policy dictates a minimum of 5 women participating to be eligible for year end prizes.
Currently about 50% of our DWS members are participating, mainly on the RED tees.
For a refresher on the particulars:
ALL HDCP’s quoted are from the RED course.
RED: Open to all players, no matter your handicap.
RED/GREEN: For players with a 21+ HDCP from RED.
GREEN: For players with 30+ HDCP from RED.
Ringers are your best scores from one game during the week - all 18 scores must be filled in and the winner is a net score. Any ringers during a match may also be counted.
Chip-ins and birdies/pars are treated the same way. One game per week can be counted plus any game during match play or Club Championship or Eclectic.
~~~~~~~~
MATCH PLAY UPDATES:
Matches are being played in a timely manner. The playing from different tees seems to be working very well! There have been several close matches.
I would suggest if you are involved in doubles, check the bulletin board for tips to keep the game moving. A match should not take any longer than a normal game. (All 4 players do not need to finish every hole.)
Second rounds for all matches are due to be played by August 3rd. Adherence to deadlines is appreciated by all.
~~~~~~~~
And one more item ...
Club Championship, and Mary Buckley Eclectic sign up sheets are on the in-club competitions board. IT IS A TRULY CLUB EVENT! Consider joining in!

BULGER TWO-BALL TOURNAMENT NEWS
The format is Full Chapman—meaning both players drive, and both hit each other’s drive. Then choose the ball you like the most. Please note: if you are hitting the third shot, it should be your golf ball! Alternate from then on until the ball is holed.
Thanks

This is your perfect opportunity to enjoy yourself while proudly representing Dalewood WS.

In the 2-person Net Better Ball format, four teams of two women from Dalewood, Ashbrook, and Warkworth Golf Clubs compete, with only the lowest three scores from each club counting. Please sign up for all available dates. We will do our best to ensure every participant plays at least two games.
The first match is on July 10th. Sign-up cut off date is July 4th.
2025 Ladies City & District Golf Championship
On August 24th at Kawartha and August 25th at Peterborough, Dalewood WS will compete against Peterborough, Kawartha, Pine Crest, Tamarac, and Wildfire Golf Clubs in a competitive weekend tournament. 6 golfers from each club will play her own ball. The best 4 scores from each team count towards the team total over two days. Prizes are awarded for team gross and net scores.
