The women's section held our annual Eleni Ponting Better Ball in very summer-like weather.
THE TEAMS:
MORNING PAIR:
LYNDA RENNICK & MONEEN SMITH
Thanks to Bridget, for arranging the dinner format - the consensus was very positive!
Tipping on Tuesdays:
DWS participants have noted inconsistencies in tip handling. We had asked for automatic 15% tips to all food and beverage purchases.
It is not working for various reasons. As we want to support the club and the servers, we are asking that the onus return to each member. Just say: Add 15% or 18%, when you order. Your call.
Thank you for letting me know that tips are being missed.
Bridget
Social Convenor
All the matches are now posted on the blog, under the tabs, which are just below the picture.

From Bridget:
"Our first Match Play using Red, Red/Green, and Green tees. Donna and Dawn won after 16. A good game. Each had a good time and we experienced every weather type. We are damp but happy." (They played on Tuesday.)
FROM SANDI MacDONALD, HCP AND MATCH PLAY CONVENOR:
HANDICAP: WHEN POSTING A SCORE PLAYED ON RED/GREEN OR GREEN, PLEASE ENTER YOUR ADJUSTED SCORE (NET DOUBLE BOGEY). AS OF NOW, GOLF CANADA HAS THE ADJUSTED SCORE FOR ONLY RED ON ITS POSTING SITE.
MATCH PLAY: BRAD HAS COMPLETED THE MATCHES ON GOLF GENIUS AND SHOULD BE PAPER POSTED VERY SOON. SEVERAL HAVE ALREADY BOOKED THEIR MATCHES AND I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO DO THE SAME.
CARDS: PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING YOUR MATCHES SO I CAN MAKE UP YOUR CARDS. GOLF GENIUS CAN'T DO IT BECAUSE WE ARE USING DIFFERENT SETS OF TEES. TWO PREPARED CARDS WILL BE IN THE PRO SHOP. ONE WILL BE THE OFFICIAL CARD TO BE PUT IN THE BOX ON THE SHELF IN THE LOCKER ROOM, WHEN COMPLETED AND SIGNED.
MATCH PLAY GAMES SHOULD BE RECORDED FOR YOUR HANDICAP. IF THE HOLE IS NOT COMPLETED, GIVE YOURSELF A REASONABLE SCORE FOR THE HOLE - IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE MAX. THERE ARE SEVERAL READINGS ON MATCH PLAY RULES, ETIQUETTE AND PROCEDURES ON THE BULLETIN BOARD.
HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!
Congratulations to Gail Richards on her Hole-in-One on Tuesday, May 27, on hole #11. It was a back pin and no one actually saw it go in, but after not finding the ball anywhere, they decided to look in the hole!
This is taking playing together to the extreme with Heather Ogden and Lynda Rennick both under the same tree in the rough.
It is with great sadness we inform you that our dear friend Linda Isaac passed away on Wednesday, May 28, after a brief illness. She was a valued member for many years and our Women's Section President in 2014-15.
Linda will be remembered for her warm smile, infectious laugh and crazy sense of humour!
Her version of "Gypsy Rose Isaac" dance after her years as President :
THE WEATHER GODS DID NOT CO-OPERATE FOR THE THREE DAYS PRIOR TO OPENING FIELD DAY ON SUNDAY, BUT THANKS TO THE WOMEN'S SECTION EXECUTIVE, WE MADE THE BEST OF IT. (8 HARDY WOMEN WENT OUT TO "SLOG" IT AROUND BEFORE DINNER.)
THE TEAMS:
NEW MEMBER
KIM WADSWORTH
From the Convenor Cathy Morin:

That's golf: one day you're almost holing out for an albatross on #1 and a few days later you visit the patio on the way to the 15th green. Thanks, Dawn, for being a good sport and re-creating the shot for us!! ('cause she knew it was going on the blog)
Have a good holiday weekend - and don't forget to sign up for our Opening!
Everyone had a good time at the Men's and Women's Opening on Saturday, but Dawn McMaster must have impressed her playing partners with a "natural" eagle on #1 - her own two shots and a putt from a few inches! Team mates were Ralph Warren, Al LeBlanc, and photographer Dean Trimble.

Dale Hodge would like you to be aware of her son's just published novel, available from Dale. The write up on the back is all too timely!
Don't forget to sign up for the Opening Field Day!

What a difference a tree makes!!
#2 from the red tee - looks way more open!
WE WILL SEE A COUPLE OF VERY OBVIOUS CHANGES TO THE GOLF COURSE:
ON #16, ONE OF MY FAVOURITE TREES ON THE COURSE WAS REMOVED. IT HAD A SPLIT IN THE TRUNK AND WAS IN DANGER OF FALLING DOWN. IN TIME, THE TREES BEHIND WILL LIKELY BECOME FULLER BECAUSE OF ITS REMOVAL.
(BUT IT WILL MAKE THAT BUNKER MORE PLAYABLE.)
ON #2, OUR "NOT SO FAVOURITE" OVERHANGING TREE FINALLY GAVE IN TO GRAVITY.
Our sincere condolences to Laura McCracken Ebbrell on the passing of her younger brother Jamie Gordon, who was also a member at Dalewood. Jamie's obituary may be seen below:
After battling for many months, it is very sad to report that Janet Hull has passed.
Rest in peace, dear friend.
Sincere condolences to our friend Linda Isaac on the passing of her mother, Lillian.
