Congratulations to the top three teams!!

~~~~~
THE NEXT TROPHY WE PLAY FOR IS THE BULGER TWO-BALL, JULY 8. GET YOUR PARTNER!!
~~~~~

I had the opportunity to chat with a Level 4 Rules official about taking a penalty drop on #8. If you and your partners "know or virtually know" that your ball crossed the pond, hit the ground near the green and then rolls back into the pond, you may take relief (with a 1 stroke penalty) two club lengths from the entry point next to the green as long as you can find a spot not closer to the hole. If you did not see the ball hit land (or it splashed in the water), you must still keep the pond between you and flag stick for your next shot.

When dropping, if the ball keeps rolling back into the penalty area, then after two attempts, you may place the ball where it landed.

The same rule would apply if you hit the slope between #13 green and the pond and it rolls into the penalty area.

Any questions, please ask for clarification.

TIPPING UPDATE

Tipping on Tuesdays:

DWS participants have noted inconsistencies in tip handling. We had asked for automatic 15% tips to all food and beverage purchases.

It is not working for various reasons. As we want to support the club and the servers, we are asking that the onus return to each member. Just say: Add 15% or 18%, when you order. Your call.

Thank you for letting me know that tips are being missed.

MATCH PLAY / HANDICAP UPDATES

FROM SANDI MacDONALD, HCP AND MATCH PLAY CONVENOR:

HANDICAP: WHEN POSTING A SCORE PLAYED ON RED/GREEN OR GREEN, PLEASE ENTER YOUR ADJUSTED SCORE (NET DOUBLE BOGEY). AS OF NOW, GOLF CANADA HAS THE ADJUSTED SCORE FOR ONLY RED ON ITS POSTING SITE.

MATCH PLAY: BRAD HAS COMPLETED THE MATCHES ON GOLF GENIUS AND SHOULD BE PAPER POSTED VERY SOON. SEVERAL HAVE ALREADY BOOKED THEIR MATCHES AND I ENCOURAGE ALL OF YOU TO DO THE SAME.

CARDS: PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN YOU ARE PLAYING YOUR MATCHES SO I CAN MAKE UP YOUR CARDS. GOLF GENIUS CAN'T DO IT BECAUSE WE ARE USING DIFFERENT SETS OF TEES. TWO PREPARED CARDS WILL BE IN THE PRO SHOP. ONE WILL BE THE OFFICIAL CARD TO BE PUT IN THE BOX ON THE SHELF IN THE LOCKER ROOM, WHEN COMPLETED AND SIGNED.

MATCH PLAY GAMES SHOULD BE RECORDED FOR YOUR HANDICAP. IF THE HOLE IS NOT COMPLETED, GIVE YOURSELF A REASONABLE SCORE FOR THE HOLE - IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE MAX. THERE ARE SEVERAL READINGS ON MATCH PLAY RULES, ETIQUETTE AND PROCEDURES ON THE BULLETIN BOARD.

HAVE FUN AND GOOD LUCK!

Congratulations to Gail Richards on her Hole-in-One on Tuesday, May 27, on hole #11. It was a back pin and no one actually saw it go in, but after not finding the ball anywhere, they decided to look in the hole!

This is taking playing together to the extreme with Heather Ogden and Lynda Rennick both under the same tree in the rough.

Dawn's Eagle and a book

Everyone had a good time at the Men's and Women's Opening on Saturday, but Dawn McMaster must have impressed her playing partners with a "natural" eagle on #1 - her own two shots and a putt from a few inches! Team mates were Ralph Warren, Al LeBlanc, and photographer Dean Trimble.

Dale Hodge would like you to be aware of her son's just published novel, available from Dale. The write up on the back is all too timely!

TREES AND BALL MARKS

WE WILL SEE A COUPLE OF VERY OBVIOUS CHANGES TO THE GOLF COURSE:

ON #16, ONE OF MY FAVOURITE TREES ON THE COURSE WAS REMOVED. IT HAD A SPLIT IN THE TRUNK AND WAS IN DANGER OF FALLING DOWN. IN TIME, THE TREES BEHIND WILL LIKELY BECOME FULLER BECAUSE OF ITS REMOVAL.

(BUT IT WILL  MAKE THAT BUNKER MORE PLAYABLE.)

A BIRD'S EYE VIEW

ON #2, OUR "NOT SO FAVOURITE" OVERHANGING TREE FINALLY GAVE IN TO GRAVITY.

THANKS TO SANDI FOR THE PHOTO.
