The weather gods were kind to us, with mostly cloud cover and a sprinkle of rain for one hole to cool us down, for our annual Devil's Tournament. The top three teams could not have been closer without it being a tie!

More wildlife

Our Dalewood hawk is making itself available for pictures this summer! 

Thanks for this great shot of it taking a bath near the bridge on #12 from Bridget Smith. 

Perhaps it is trying to inspire the HAWKS for the Solheim Cup coming next month.

Now where is our HERON?

Laura McCracken Ebbrell found a new little friend on #8. It allowed her to get up close and personal. It was probably looking for chipping and putting tips!

A REMINDER ABOUT THE DEVIL'S TOURNAMENT      6 - 6 - 6

Lynn will send out a google doc for you to sign up for Aug 23. Let us know if you want to take a cart. 

Choose if you'd like a grilled chicken or veggie skewer with an assortment of salads.

The cost of $25.00 (including $5.00 for prizes) will be chitted.

Although the shotgun is at 1pm, we need to be assembled in the Great Hall at 12 sharp for the draw. 

The blind draw will pair a lower handicap with a higher handicap, who will then play as partners for 6 holes of better ball (with your handicap dots), 6 holes of scramble, and 6 holes of Chapman alternate shot.

Northumberland for Ukraine - Grocery Card Drive: August 6th from 9am - 12pm



You have all been incredibly supportive of the Northumberland for Ukraine Families initiative.  We have now welcomed 30 Ukrainian Refugee families - 113 people who are now living in Northumberland free from the ravages of the war.

As you know, we have been supporting their basic needs for the first 6 months in Canada - groceries, rent, utilities and medical expenses not covered by OHIP.  We have raised $150K of the $230K we need.  The biggest month of groceries is going to be September $27,5K.

GROCERY CARD DRIVE
On Saturday August 6th, we are running a Grocery Card drive at participating stores in both Port Hope and Cobourg.  

The principle is simple - top up your groceries with a gift card and drop it in our donation box. These cards will go to the families for their September groceries.

If you are away and would like to make a contribution to this initiative, you can contribute online through Local Food For Local Good who is our partner for the groceries. https://www.localfoodforlocalgood.ca/donate-now  Select the fund:  Northumberland for Ukraine Families. Tax receipts are available.

Save the Date

Our Devil's Tournament shotgun at 1pm has been approved for Tuesday Aug 23. The entry cost will be $5.00 and dinner will be $20.00 for an assortment of salads and a skewer of either grilled chicken or veggies. 

For those unfamiliar with this tournament, one higher handicap player is paired with a lower handicap player by a random draw. Then you play 6 holes each of better ball, scramble, and alternate shot. It's a great day, so be sure to sign up!
