Tuesday Golf and ducklings

A note from Jane Gibbens and Laurie Pudwell, our Tuesday convenors:

Dalewood Women’s League

Women’s League Tuesday Golf is alive and well! This year we look forward to getting together on Tuesdays, playing our own game and having fun. With the current COVID-19 restrictions, exchanging cash and scorecards becomes a problem, so weekly games and winners won’t happen. However, we will mix the foursomes up each week so that all can play with the broader group and also get to know our new members.

The Women’s League Tee Times are blocked off for Tuesdays at noon starting June 2, 2020. Morning and late afternoon tee times can also be booked for those who want to golf outside of the core time. The option to play 9 or 18 holes is always there.

A Google Doc “Sign up Sheet” will replace the one that used to be posted on the bulletin board outside of the women’s locker room. It will be sent out to members each week via email. Detailed instructions will be in the email although it is very easy to use. If you are not comfortable using Google Doc, you can also call or email one of us to have your name added if you prefer.

Let’s give this a try and we can modify as we go! If you have any questions please contact:

The opening of the golf course, with all the new social distancing rules in place, went off without a hitch. Kudos to our staff - greenskeeping, pro shop, and kitchen all went above and beyond to keep us safe and able to play.

Temporary Rule Change:

The bridge on #15 is closed. A pace of play issue has come up and our Games Captain Anne Parks and Handicap Convenor Dale Hodge are in favour of making a temporary rule change until the bridge is repaired.

Under normal circumstances, if you hit your drive from #15 tee but you are unsure if you have successfully cleared the creek, you would have to check the other side (or your playing partners would) before you drop a ball and play from the east side of the creek. With the long walk over the #10 bridge, we should not wait to see if the ball is playable on the west side of the creek.

Therefore we will bring in a temporary rule until the bridge is repaired: you may hit a "provisional ball" from the east side of the creek. (A provisional ball would not be allowed normally, if your ball has entered a hazard.) If you find your ball is playable on the west side, you can play it and pick up your provisional with no penalty.

A sign of spring! There was a lot of hissing to make sure I didn't get any closer.
