Orange Tees and Solheim Cup

There are two messages to read below, one from Jane about the Orange Tees and from Sandi about the upcoming Solheim Cup.

Orange Tees Update #2
We are pleased to announce that Golf Ontario has completed the rating of the Dalewood Orange Tees. The course rating from the Orange Tee’s for Women is 61.5 and the Slope Rating is 106.  The computer in the pro shop has been updated with this information and will show your HCP from the orange tees...just as it does for the other tee locations.
This is great news because those that wish to use the Orange Tees can participate in all Tuesday games including low net games.  New Scorecards will be made for the 2020 season.  In the meantime, on the Tuesday sign-in sheet please be sure to check off if you are using the orange tees and your corresponding ½ HCP for that Tee category (you will have to get your new HCP from the computer).
As always, if you have any questions or feedback please email Jane: jmgibbens@gmail.com or Laurie: Laurie.Pudwell@sympatico.ca

Devil's Tournament:
Hot, sunny weather greeted the Devil's Tournament players on Tuesday. We had 32 players, and several new members took part. The camaraderie was great, the food was delicious, and the laughs contagious.

The results:

The net scores were all relatively close ranging for 57.9 to 71.5 so everyone played the format pretty well. If anyone would like to see the full scoresheet I can email it to you.

Thanks Jane Gibbens for the photo. Unfortunately, yours truly neglected to get photos of the winning teams! My bad!!

We also learned about a minor new rule change that affects the tee box. When a player is allowed or required to hit another shot from the teeing area, she is allowed to place the ball on the tee. The circumstances of this occuring to you would not happen often (would it, Linda?), but it is worth knowing, should it happen to anyone again. It is rule 6.2a and 6.2b.

Orange Tees Update:
With the Orange Tees now in place, there appears to be a growing interest from some Women’s League members.  As a result, for the remainder of the 2019 season, those who would like to play from the Orange Tees on regular Tuesday Play are encouraged to do so. The only exception to this is for those participating in Team Play playoffs (Aug 13 and 27).
It is expected that the Orange Tees will be rated by Golf Ontario for the 2020 golf season.  Once this happens, Orange Tees players are easily integrated into all regular Tuesday Play games going forward.  In the meantime, a few modifications will need to be made:
1.  Orange Tee Players can participate in all Tuesday games and prizes that don’t require a handicap, such as “Predict Your Score, Predict your Putts, Closest to the Pin Par 3’s, Lowest Number of Putts.
2.  Until the Orange Tees are rated, players cannot participate in “Low Net” games because a handicap can’t be calculated from those tees.
3.   An extra column will be added to the Tuesday sign in sheet for players to indicate if they are playing from the Orange Tees.

If you have any questions or feedback please contact Jane Gibbens (jmgibbens@gmail.com), or Laurie Pudwell (laurie.pudwell@sympatico.ca).

The poster is up for the DEVIL'S TOURNAMENT on Tuesday, August 20. It is a partner game where you play 6 holes of better ball, 6 of scramble, and 6 of alternate shot. It will be a shotgun at 12:30. All are welcome - your partner will be from the opposite half of the handicap group.

Don't forget that we do the draw for playing partners starting at 11;30, so you need to be at the club by 11:20 (or let me know you are coming later).

Sign up by August 17 with cart request and dinner choice from the menu selections below:
