Garden discovery

This creature was found in the garden behind the 16th tee. She was scary enough to cause Barb and Patty to retire to the bar in fear. Thanks to Bria's research, it is a female Black and Yellow Garden Spider (Argiope aurantia), which is described as "enormous, with the bold black and yellow pattern adding to their intimidating appearance."

Now that's a PICKLE!!

Chef Jen knows that Sharon enjoys a pickle with her club sandwich.

Please remember to sign up for the Devil's Tournament (on Tuesday Sept 5) when you are out at the club this week. Tuesday, Aug 29 is Playoff #2 for Team Play.

As well, the sign up sheet is there for the Solheim Cup on Sept 16. More details to follow soon.

Severe thunderstorms were warned this morning and although we didn't get the amount of rain that was forecast, I'm sure we would not have finished the tournament in dry clothes. Chef Jen very kindly allowed us to cancel the meal, and the pro shop has accommodated us for another shotgun on Sept 5. Please sign up, by Sept 2, and choose your dinner selection.

The Devil's Tournament Menu is posted. Please make your selection and add it beside your name on the sign-up sheet. The choices are: Beet and Seasonal Fruit Salad, BBQ Chicken on Flatbread, or Vegetable Pasta. The salad and pasta may be meatless or you have a choice of chicken or chorizo sausage.

First place:  Annabel Thorpe and Tracey Bodashefsky.  They had an 86 gross, with 26 handicap and a net of 60. Congratulations!

Second place: Jeanne Beaith & Laurie Pudwell.  They had an 82 gross, with 20.5 handicap for a net of 61.5. Well played!

Solheim Cup Teams:

Teams will be chosen in the near future and posted. Watch the real Solheim Cup Team USA vs Team Europe August 18-20th!

Team Play Playoffs start on Aug 8. The points already accumulated continue to count for each team, but instead of playing just one other team, each team is trying to come first out of all four teams. The points increase as the three playoff weeks go on and participation points still count. Point assignment is outlined on the bulletin board. The other two playoffs are Aug 29 and Sept 12.

Aug 15 is "Bring a Friend Day" - 18 holes of golf for only $25.

The sign is up for the Devil's Tournament on Aug 22 - shotgun start at 12:30 pm. It is a fun day, with players being paired from a blind draw (from 2 handicap groupings). You will play a better ball with hcp strokes, a scramble, and an alternate shot format. The cost for prizes is $10. Please make your dinner selections once the menu is posted.
