From Dale Hodge:

Joining up with our youngest son and family in England - and it is freezing. Very pretty but not all are prepared for it so our rental car could not get up the icy roads in the Peak District.  Although Manchester just north had hardly any - almost balmy!  About to collect the kids off the ferry from Ireland at Holyhead.

Christmas lunch looked like a great success - sorry to have missed it.
Cheers to warm houses!😁. Dale

The rebuilt tee on #8 is looking great, even on this cold fall day. It might be easier hitting over the pond right now!

Yes, that's ice!!

Traveling this winter?

Many of you told me you enjoyed the pictures on the Blog last winter that other members sent of their travels. If you would like to share your photos, please email them to me (in as large a format as you can) and I'll post them here.

It was great to see so many out on Friday for our annual Women's Section Christmas luncheon. The food was good and the camaraderie was terrific!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

8th Tee Update

After leveling, the sod went down for both the rough surround and the teeing area. Some finishing work still is to be done to fill sod lines and rolling when the weather co-operates.

And a picture from Pete Wangen - he says the teeing area is about 30 feet wide by 24 feet deep.
A big improvement!

Red tee on #8

Here are pictures from Tyler of the work being done on #8 red tee. Some of the excavation around the outside will be covered with bluegrass (rough), but the tee will be more than twice the size of the original tee.

The message from Tyler to the greens' advisory committee: "Sod was stripped this morning and work was started on the tee.  The sprinkler head was moved and leveling has begun.  We anticipate that the rough grade will be completed today and finishing grade work will be done tomorrow (if temperatures allow as we are expecting temps below 0C tomorrow). Sodding should be completed prior to the weekend."

Looks fantastic, doesn't it? By the way, this is part of your $50 capital fee at work!

Friday, 17 November 2017

Great news:  The greens' advisory committee has approved work on our "favourite" red tee on #8. It will be leveled, enlarged (by more than double), and resodded. If all goes well with fall and spring weather, the tee should be in use for play by Opening Field Day. We will use a temporary tee before then. You might to be able to see the vague outline of white paint below to show the proposed size.

Notice anything different from the red tee on #7?

A closer view.
The huge poplar came down in a windstorm earlier this week (mostly into the field to the left).
The other tree is still there and may be even healthier now!!

Happy Hour

As the season comes to an end, what better way to finish it than to have some drinks and appetizers at Lynn and Mary Lou's newly renovated home? Thanks to Barb for supplying some pictures.

More than enough tasty "appies".

Not sure these folks were ready for the picture!

Share the joke, please.

"And the ball went in the hole, what can I say?"
