Devil's Tournament

On Tuesday, July 2, if you are playing in the Devil's Tournament, you need to be in the Great Hall by 11 am.  Why so early?  We do the draw, make up the scorecards with your better ball "dots", and hand out and explain the rules.  (I also do not want to make the draw until I am assured everyone is checked in.)  We also need to be on our way to the holes at about 11:45 for a 12 shotgun.  

So please be upstairs in golf shoes by 11 am.

 

An Update on several things

Our first rounds of the Mary Buckley Eclectic were both washed out - so the new dates are 1st round Tuesday June 18 or Sunday June 23, and the second round Tuesday June 25 or Sunday June 30.

The sign up sheet is up for the Devil's Tournament on Tuesday July 2.  The menu will be posted on Monday, so please make your dinner selection.  In addition the women's section presents the President's Reception after the Devil's Tournament.  If you are a member of the Women's Section, you are invited to attend it, even if you're not playing.  If you are not a member of the section the cost for the "wine and appies" is $10.

It's good to see many of the matches have been played this week.  Make sure you check the match play boards or the blog (www.dalewoodwsblog.blogspot.ca) to see if you are supposed to be playing.  Eleni has posted sample scorecards for the matches and information about how to properly return the scorecards.  The pro shop will prepare your scorecard for your match (except for putting).  Don't forget you can use that match in addition to the one day a week to post ringers, chip-ins, birdies, pars and bogeys.

       Devil's Tournament  (6-6-6)

Tuesday, July 2 with a 12 noon shotgun.  

You will be paired with someone from a different handicap category and play 6 holes of better ball (your own ball using handicap strokes), 6 holes of scramble, and 6 holes of alternate shot.  The cost is $10 for the tournament prizes.  The President's Reception will be held after the tournament, followed by a dinner (optional).

 Match Play

If you signed up for Match Play (or even if you don't remember signing up) check the blog on the right side under Pages, or the bulletin board, for the draws for 18-hole, 9-Hole, doubles, and putting matches.  The matches must be played by the date above the column.  Try to get your match played early, so it doesn't come down to the last few days.  Instructions are posted for each match.   

Match play rules, hints, and etiquette are posted on the blog as well.  Please be aware of your pace of play especially during the doubles match play.  The game should not take any longer than a regular game of golf.  Pick up when you are out of a hole.

 Mary Buckley Eclectic Trophy

This tournament will be played Tuesday June 11 and 18 (or Sunday June 16 and 23).  It is a game played over two weeks with your best scores on 18 holes over two days. For example: on the first day you score 7, 4, 6, 3, 8 on the first 5 holes, and on the following week you score 6, 5, 5, 5, 5 on the same 5 holes.  Your score for those 5 holes would be 6, 4, 5, 3, 5. At the end of the 2 rounds, the player’s best scores are totaled and her handicap as of Round 1 is subtracted.
